Hook up the Benefits of Digestion for Good Health
The Mechanism of Digestion
The process of digestion is carried out by our digestive system, which begins from the mouth and ends at the anus. Our digestive system consists of the mouth, salivary glands, food pipe, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine and anus. Each of the organs of our digestive system is responsible to carry out its specific functions. The mouth is responsible for the process of breaking down the food into fine particles with the help of saliva(produced by salivary glands) and teeth. These food particles travel through the food pipe to reach the stomach, where acid and other digestive enzymes act on it to break down into more fine particles. These fine particles are then moved to our small intestine from where the essential nutrients are absorbed from the food. The pancreas secretes the enzymes that break down the protein, fat and carbohydrates in the food. The liver helps to produce bile(helps in the digestion of fats) and purifies the nutrients carrying blood coming from the small intestine. The gallbladder stores the bile and supplies it to the small intestine during the process of digestion. Whatever is left is pushed to the large intestine where excess water from the food is absorbed and waste is stored in the rectum until passed through the anus in the form of stools.
Good digestion is proportional to good health
We all desire to have good health and make efforts to achieve it. Is it correct to say that we need food to survive? No, we need the essential nutrients from the food to survive. But can we avail the benefit of nutrition from our food without digestion? No, popping up the supplements instead of correcting your digestion is a bad choice and making efforts to improve the digestion can be the better choice.
You will be surprised to know that 70% of our immunity comes from our digestive health. In other words, we can say that better digestion, better immunity. We all know that immunity protects us from falling sick and fighting viruses and infections around us, so it is necessary to maintain high immunity against increasing infections. Without immunity, survival is complicated and better digestion can help you overcome this.
One of the main contributors to good health is a good mood. You will be amazed to know the fact that 90% of serotonin hormone, which is necessary for the regulation of mood and emotions is produced in our gut. It is evident to define a brain-gut connection and the importance of our digestive system for a better mood.
So we can say that good health is directly proportional to good digestion and we should consider our digestive issues seriously to lead a better life and health.
